An Armyman it would be !
Yes, something that I would really cherish doing would be of course a job in the Indian Army.
IMA or the Indian Military Academy celebrates it's 75th year of formation in 2007 and I definitely miss not passing out from the annals of this splendid institution which tirelessly creates hundreds of brave officers every year. Some of whom go on to lead our Army jawans to glory and success in the biggest & toughest of adversities.
A standing testimony to the grit, ambition , passion and courage that India's fighting forces stand for.
I do agree that with changing times, newer lucrative careers have emerged. The upper middle class no longer chases Army or IAS/IPS dreams. They being attracted more to the money and fool's paradise offered by the 'dog-eat-dog' world of IIMs & MNCs. But that belief ends at the point where life's motives and intentions get questioned by the iconoclast.
Having said that, I do have to confess that Indian Army's officer recruitments are still amongst the toughest in the world to get through.
Quick decision taking ability , real tough leadership skills and the desire to put our nation before anything else in life. An attitude that would perhaps be best reflected in the credo of IMA.
' The Safety, Honour and Welfare of your Country come first, always and every time.
The Honour, Welfare and Comfort of the Men you command come next.
Your Own ease, Comfort and Safety come last, always and every time'
