Of parting trauma & speeding Ambulances...

One of the nice things about Chennai is the presence of a solid hospital and medicare infrastructure. There are almost hundreds of hospitals , big and small both inside the city and in it's suburbs.

Ambulances play a major role in the set-up as it forms the vital link between the victim and critical medical assistance. But as I observed , the journey in an ambulance can be really traumatic & painful at times for the people accompanying the victim.

I have been driving through Chennai roads for almost a year now and almost every third day I find myself making way for a speeding ambulance. Almost invariably , I see an elderly woman accompanying the patient. Sometimes a wailing mother... other times a visually stunned wife who is too shaken to even shed tears.

It just prompts one to think how ones life doesn't actually belong to just oneself.Life is at best an interwoven maze of people whom you love and care about and people who love and care for you. Hence living life is also an exercise that has to be carefully planned cos every decision made by us affects an entire network of people and in turn their lives.

Before I close....Remember that life is indeed precious ! Not only for yourselves, but also for your loved ones.

Yes,it indeed is a painful sight for the loved ones.
What India needs is good Emergency services like in the western countries where patient management starts right in the ambulance(which is most crutial period) than after reaching the hospital.
In my opinion, the patient's relatives should not be allowed inside the ambulance next to the patient. It creates more disturbance for the para-medics in attending to the patient.
But for all of the above, big money is needed.Indians save for a fancy car, foreign vacation, big tv...but never think of saving money for medicines or hospital interventions.
Life insurance may be high, but Medical insurance is negligent.
